Hair Tip #101... How to deep condition your hair.
Why deep condition? Deep conditioning is a great way to put moisture back into the hair, strengthen elasticity, and helps with overall health of your hair and scalp. This should definitely be part of your hair regimen, no matter your hair type. The will prevent dryness and breakage from occurring.
1. When deep conditioning make sure your hair is washed. The reason for deep conditioning on cleansed strands is because it lifts the cuticle allowing for maximum penetration and rids the hair of any product build up that would otherwise prevent the deep conditioner from penetrating,
2. Apply a deep conditioner that contains ingredients such as, coconut oil, olive oil, or avocado oil such as our King Cake Deep Conditioner. These three oils are the only oils that can actually penetrate the hair shaft. Our deep conditioner is fortified with conditioning moisturizers derived from coconut that enhance hair's shine and give that silky feel.
3. Cover it with a shower cap or plastic bag and add heat. Adding heat will open up the cuticle and allow the deep conditioner to deeply penetrate. Allow the deep conditioner to stay on for at least 15 minutes. For better deep conditioning leave it on for 30 minutes or longer. Some ways to get heat are from a warm wet towel, table top hooded dryer, or blow dryer . If you can’t use heat make sure to leave on the deep conditioner for at least 30 minutes or even over night.
4. Rinse off deep conditioner with cold water. Rinsing with cold water will close the hair’s cuticle which will help the strands retain all the moisture and good stuff!
